Enjoy a variety of events, such as the Sciliar International Music Festival

In June and July, everything in Fiè allo Sciliar revolves around music. As part of the Sciliar International Music Festival, highly talented music students travel to South Tyrol to take part in master classes and competitions. Every day, guests may enjoy classical concerts, where the young musicians show their skills. In addition, international stars of classical music also give master classes, which are open to the public and count among the most popular events in the Sciliar area.

Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride

South Tyrol has a long equestrian history. At the annual “Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride”, ancient traditions are combined with mediaeval customs in honour of the famous singer, poet, and composer. A series of competitions are organized in locations that were important in Oswald’s life. Each year in June, 36 teams from all over South Tyrol participate in the competitions. These races and games take place at the Castle Trostburg, on the Kofel in Castelrotto, at the Matzelbödele in Siusi, at the Fiè Lake and at Castle Presule.

Törggelen

Törggelen

In the autumn, the South Tyrolean people celebrate the ancient custom “Törggelen”. From the beginning of October until the Advent season, you will have the opportunity to get to know this tradition and to enjoy all its culinary delights. At the Gasthof zum Schlern, we offer Törggelen specialties in our restaurant. You may also take an autumn walk on the path “Oachner Höfeweg” or around the hamlets of the holiday region Alpe di Siusi. Enjoy the bright colours of nature and take a break in one of the many taverns or mountain huts with their rustic ambience. Typical dishes include bacon and hard rye bread, smoked sausages, roasted chestnuts, and donuts. Young wine and sweet cider will accompany your meal.

Culinary event “Völser Kuchlkastl”

In October, there is another culinary highlight for connoisseurs and gourmets: the Völser Kuchlkastl, founded in 1978, is dedicated to gastronomy and offers you truly unique taste experiences. During this culinary happening, the participating kitchen chefs interpret traditional recipes in a modern way and inspire both locals and holidaymakers with their original creations.

Swing on Snow

Each year in March, there’s music in the air in the holiday region Alpe di Siusi. The one-week festival Swing on Snow awaits you with authentic alpine folk music, including experimental interpretations. The musicians play in the heart of nature, and entertain skiers and other winter sportsmen with their art.

Attractions in the surroundings

Attractions in the surroundings

There are many attractions around Fiè allo Sciliar. We recommend a visit to the South Tyrolean Archaeology Museum in Bolzano, home to Ötzi, the Ice Age Mummy. One of the popular Messner Mountain Museums is in the Castle of Firmiano, south-west of Bolzano – its theme is the importance of mountains for mankind. At the Museum de Gherdeina in Ortisei you may get to know the Ladin language and culture. From May to October, you may participate in a guided tour of the Castle Presule in Fiè allo Sciliar and admire the splendid Knights’ Hall. You may also visit the Ruins of Hauenstein above Siusi allo Sciliar and the Castle Trostburg, built in the Middle Ages above Ponte Gardena. The many churches in the area offer you even more highlights in terms of architecture and history. In the village centre of San Costantino, you will find the homonymous church with the picturesque onion tower. Saint Margaret in Upper Fiè and the church Peter and Pauli on Perterbühl are also worth a visit.
